Throughout my youth I had great interest in science, biology, and animals. With a rural upbringing and FFA projects, I had to meet and employ veterinarians for my project animals.

I decided becoming a veterinarian and running my own practice was my passion. I set my sites and let nothing deter me from this path. My wife Ginger and I have been married since 1979. She has a degree in accounting from Texas A&M university. She obtained her CPA shortly following graduation. Ginger is now retired after spending 39 years in governmental accounting. I have one son, Cody. He is also a Texas A&M graduate and is an integral part of my practice working as the practice manager. My current pet is a Labrador named Cahill. He is a guard dog ( guards his food bowl) and a hog dog ( hogs the bed ). I love labs and have had many over the years, All were named after John Wayne characters. The most rewarding part of my job is to use my knowledge and capabilities to improve the health and comfort of animals. I get to meet many awesome people along with their pets. It is very rewarding to have animals come to me with a severe life threatening condition and have them go home wagging their tail and be excited about seeing their owner again.

I have been a SCUBA diver since 1975. I have been diving all over the world and have logged over 600 dives. I do a lot of underwater photography.
I love water sports and have a boat for skiing and inner tubing on Texas lakes.
I have been a Scout leader for 29 years. I was a scoutmaster for a troop for 23 years camping at least one weekend every month for that time. I still serve the council and the troop. Camping adventures include canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting, rock climbing, backpacking in the mountains, sailing the Florida Keys, and teaching wilderness survival.

Greatest Life Accomplishments

Family: I guess the most important and meaningful accomplishment would be to have married the love of my life. Spending a life with her while raising our son to be a happy and productive member of society.

Veterinary Field: Mixed practitioner of the year 2010 was a great honor. Also, I have inspired and mentored many young people to become veterinarians.

Community: As a scout leader I have helped 52 young men achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. I strive to teach leadership, citizenship, and character to the youth in my unit. The goal is to prepare youth to make ethical choices during their lives and push them to achieve their full potential. I have great pride in the impact this has on our country.
